Air India Reveals New Manish Malhotra-Designed Crew Uniforms
Air India has unveiled its latest line of uniforms for cabin and cockpit crew, crafted by the renowned Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra at his Mumbai studio. The fresh collection features a diverse range of colors and classic designs, seamlessly integrating India's cultural richness with a modern touch, epitomizing style, sophistication, and comfort, according to the airline's statement.
The introduction of the new uniforms will be done in stages over the next few months, starting with the launch of Air India's first Airbus A350. The color palette of the new uniforms includes deep red, burgundy, aubergine, and accents of gold, paying homage to India's cultural heritage, according to the airline. The development of the new uniform designs involved close collaboration with Air India's cabin crew representatives and the In-flight Services team. They conducted extensive testing to ensure the functionality and appeal of the new designs.
Campbell Wilson, the CEO & Managing Director of Air India, expressed his confidence that Manish Malhotra's innovative ensemble will shape an exciting new chapter for the airline. He believes that these uniforms capture the essence of Air India's new identity, service principles, and commitment to setting new standards in global aviation.
The creative mind behind the uniforms, Manish Malhotra, sought to design attire that captured the diverse culture and traditions of India while emanating a contemporary and refined aesthetic. Through the infusion of emblematic Indian colors, his goal is to instill a sense of pride in the crew and make a memorable impact on guests, symbolizing the renowned warmth and hospitality for which India is known.
In September, it was announced that Manish Malhotra had been assigned the responsibility of designing new uniforms for over 10,000 frontline employees at Air India. This encompasses cabin crew, cockpit staff, ground personnel, and security staff. This undertaking is in line with the ongoing modernization endeavors of the Tata Group airline and its endeavor to establish a fresh global brand identity.
