A Luxury Fortress on Wheels-The Audi A8L Security

Run-flat tyres:

Tyres of an armoured vehicle are a priority target for attackers to immobilize the vehicle. The A8L drives on 19 inch Michelin wheels, known as PAX system tyres. The wheels are made of special type of rim and tyre compound which can keep the vehicle in motion at limited speed even after a puncture. This simple feature can allow the vehicle to reach a safe zone during the times of crisis.

Fire fighting:

In the event of any fire, the critical components are well equipped to counter such threat. The engine compartment, underbody, fuel tank and wheel housings are fitted with nozzles that spray out an effective fire extinguisher to put out flames. This extinguisher system can set off automatically upon detecting fire or can be manually activated. The car also has its own fresh air system to counter gas attacks, a feature usually found in vehicles ferrying state heads.

Communications systems:

All the hi-tech features of a vehicle can be rendered useless if the vehicle strands off and without any means of calling for help. The A8L comes loaded with radio communication devices to contact the outside world. The included loudspeaker helps attract attention of passers-by in emergency situations. The communications control unit also gets its own armoured box and is tucked securely in the trunk of the car. Beacon lights which can be installed and operated with official authorization provide the A8L authority on road to slice through traffic when required.

Exclusivity:

Without surprise, a price tag of 9.12 crores defines that it is a car for the super wealthy. Taking exclusivity to another level, the A8L cannot be viewed in Audi showrooms and perhaps will be produced only on orders. At the recent Auto Expo 2016 the A8L was kept away from the scores of shutterbugs. The car was parked in a special preview room and was displayed only to a few prospective elites, upon request.
