Volkswagen Ameo Demand on Surge as Third Shift of Manufacturing Commences

BENGALURU: Volkswagen Ameo, the  latest car model panned out by German auto major Volkswagen has seen a tremendous growth and has cultivated a need of more manpower to meet the growing demands of the car. The third shift of manufacturing has started at its manufacturing facility. In a two-shift system last year Volkswagen produced 123,456 cars which allows a maximum of 130,000 cars as reported by Sharmistha Mukherjee, for Economic Times.

The German based manufacturer is expecting a growth in domestic and export volumes in the year 2016 as it plans to extend its manufacturing rate by around 15% than the last year. The Indian market is expected to see a high demand for the new Ameo as the car is designed and developed keeping in view the needs of Indian customers. With Indian markets being the primary target, Ameo has also seen a surge in demand overseas and export markets.

Over 800 employees have been hired by Volkswagen India to ferry up the process of production of Ameo. The company is looking forward to hire more employees as the production increases through the year. The third Shift is tipped to produce more than its previous shifts as employees are hired in bulk and the car is being well received in the markets across India.

Volkswagen has customers all over the world and is rated among the top automobile producers in the world. It has manufacturing plants all over the world including India. Almost 4000 employees are working at Volkswagen India plant, Chakan Pune has invested almost approximately Euro 800 million. At the manufacturing plant in Chakan Pune, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and ŠKODA Rapid are being manufactured and Ameo will be added to the manufacturing line at this plant later this year. Furthermore, Volkswagen India assembles the 1.5-litre TDI engine at this plant in Pune.
