Fruits are the main source of the vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and other essential nutrients that are important for our daily growth and we should consume it as much as possible. Due to the lack of knowledge, we waste most of the nutrients in the form of seeds and rinds by removing it. If we utilize these waste we can decrease the wastage and get more nutrients. Citrus Peel:

People mostly peel citrus food and throw it into the dustbin or play with it by squeezing in front of other eyes. Most of the restaurants also use the rind for garnishing the dishes not just for showcases but for nutrients also. It contains fiber, vitamin C, B6, calcium, Iron, and magnesium.


Banana peel:

You better not waste this one as it is related to your happiness. Yup, you heard right, researchers have found that banana peels can boost the happiness hormone in our body. It contains tryptophan that excites the serotonin “the happiness hormone” and helps to regulate moods and nerve pulses.


Watermelon rind and seeds:

Watermelon is another fruit in the row whose seeds and rind contains essential nutrients. According to a study conducted by the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, the rind and seeds of watermelon contain amino acid ‘citrulline’ that helps in circulation of blood, strengthens the heart and reduces the muscle fatigue. They also contain Vitamins C and B6 that helps to boost the immune system.


Pineapple core:

The core of the Pineapple contains bromelain, a protein enzyme that has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce sinus and nasal inflammation. It breaks fibrin which helps in fighting cancer. So, from next time, try to eat the core part of pineapple especially.

Onions are rich in antioxidants but onion skin contains more antioxidants. The onion skin also contains a large amount of ‘quercetin’ that helps in reduce blood pressure and also fights inflammation. According to a nutritionist, red onion contains more quercetin than white or yellow onion and also highly effective.


Kiwi skin:

 I bet you didn’t think of this one, but it’s true. Kiwi skin contains many skin friendly nutrients like vitamin C and fiber, which are essential for the glowing skin and it contains more vitamins then citrus rind.

Swiss chard stem:

Swiss chard stem that we generally cut it off while cooking contains essential nutrients. Stem contains high quantity of glutamine is good for Immune system and also improves it. In case you don’t know how to eat it, just bake the stem with olive oil, salt pepper, and the delicious dish is ready.

Celery stem:

People generally removed stem part while chopping celery, which is wrong, because the stem contains most of the nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, and vitamins that help in boosting the metabolism, immune system and also good for the skins also.


Broccoli stalk:

You will start eating broccoli stalk after knowing that it contains sulforaphane, an antioxidant. It helps in fighting cancer by deactivating carcinogen and has anti-inflammatory properties. it also protects our DNA from getting damaged.
