BENGALURU:  The price for the new Aprilia SR 150 was revealed couple of weeks back, but the launch of the motorbike has been announced only now by Piaggio. Customers will be finally able to purchase the bike from Piaggio's Motoplex and Vespa dealerships throughout the country. Priced at Rs 65,00, the bike has been touted as the most budget-friendly bike launched by the company in India. The motorcycle is set to give Honda Activa 125 and the new Suzuki Access 125 a stiff competitition with respect to the market scenario. Enthusiastic customers don’t have to worry about burning a hole in their pockets, as the bike is priced below the Vespa line of scooters.

The motor that powers the Vespa 150s is the same one that has been embedded in the Aprilia SR 150. It is essentially a three-valve, single-cyliner, air-cooled motor, generating 11.6PS of power at 7000rpm coupled with a near equivalent torque of 11.5Nm at 5500rpm. The ligtweight nature enables riders to swiftly handle it, giving the motorbike a definite edge over other identical bikes in the market. Scooters in India usually don’t touch the 100kmph threshold, which seems achievable with Aprilia SR 150.The bike sports a 14-inch alloy wheels in the front and the rear. The motorcycle is capable of providing seamless grip on almost any surface due to the presence of fat 120/70 cross-section performance tyres. Furthermore, the bike features 220mm disc brake up front and a 140mm drum brake at the back for improving braking performance.

The Aprilia SR has been built from a very aerodynamic perspective employing the use of lightweight materials, bestowing the bike with a sleek design. The scooter offers customers impressive handling capabilities due to a stiffer suspension setup. What sets this scooter apart from all other counterparts in the market is the fact that it combines the performance of a motorbike with the comfort of a scooter. The bike is currently being manufactured at Piaggio's Baramati plant, where they have managed to reduce the production expenses, making it viable for the company to release the bike at reasonable price. The introductory prices are most likely to be temporary, and the price for the bike is expected to surge in the upcoming months.
