BANGALORE:  We have heard about people making fame but how many of us have heard of vehicles making fame? Yes, you heard it right. Here is the list of top ten historically famous vehicles that became famous because of their owner or because of the stories behind them.

James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder

James Dean was a top name in Hollywood during the fifties; he was rapidly growing to become a famous actor because of his good looks and intense style. James dean used to love fast European cars and this same love made him buy a customized Porsche 550 Spyder, which had an aluminum body, a 4 speed gearbox, and a top speed of 220 Km per hour. This Porsche was said to be cursed and the tragedies that had taken place in it is what made it famous. On 30 September 1955, James dean with his co-driver, Rolf Wutherich met with an accident while driving the Porsche. After this accident, George Barris (the original customizer of the 550) bought the wrecked carcass for $2500 and this time also the car end up in an accident. Then Barris sold the car’s engine and drivetrain to Troy McHenry and William Eschird. One day, when the recent owners racing against each other, McHenry lost control and hit a tree, killing him instantly and Eshird was seriously injured. Many more such incidents happened to the people who owned at least one part of the car, until the day when the car suddenly disappeared.
