Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery

The Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery in Bylakuppe, Coorg is the world’s largest teaching centre of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Located around 250 km from the capital city, it was established by Kyabje Penor Rinpoche in the year 1963. The initial structure of the temple was constructed using bamboo covering in an approximate area of 80 square feet. It also hosts Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara, also known as the Golden Temple and provides space for more than thousand monks.
