Halle Berry is an award-winning actress and former beauty queen. She won accolades for her performance in Monster's Ball in 2001; she was nominated for a BAFTA Award and won an Academy Award for best actress.

She became the first African-American woman to win the honor and currently is one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.

When Halle Berry moved to Chicago, she ran out of money and her mother refused to help her. During these days she used to stay in a shelter home for the homeless.

In an interview with Star Pulse, Berry said, “It taught me how to take care of myself and that I could live through any situation, even if it meant going to a shelter for a small stint, or living within my means, which were meager. I became a person who knows that I will always make my own way."
