Mahindra Launches Compact SUV TUV300 At 6.9L


BANGALORE: Mahindra launched the much awaited compact SUV called TUV300 in the country today with a starting price of 6.9 Lakhs(ex-showroom Pune). The compact SUV was launched by Chairman and Managing Director, Anand Mahindra at an event held in the company’s Chakan Plant in Maharashtra, reports FE.

Mahindra TUV300 is only powered by a diesel engine and has seven variants of it. The top model T8 AMT has a price tag of 9.2 Lakhs (ex-showrom price – Delhi).

Anand Mahindra, M&M Group Chairman addressed the reporters, “The TUV300 embodies Mahindra’s tough and rugged DNA which makes me confident that it will be a brand creator in its segment and find favour both in India and globally.”

Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster will be the competitors to the new TUV300 as these compact SUVs lie in the price bracket between 7.88 Lakh and 13.54 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Mahindra’s new compact SUV will also take on compact crossovers that are available in Indian market, such as Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and Fiat Avventura. As these crossovers come under the price range of 6.23 Lakhs and 8.89 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

No central lock and brake assist.

Has power steering and A/C.

The pricing of this vehicle elevates slightly from each better variant from the base variant.

Pawan Goenka, M&M Executive Director, said, “The Company has the capacity to produce 5,000 units of TUV300 a month.” Further he added, “Production capacity can be further enhanced depending upon the market demand.”

Goenka said, “We are developing 1.2 litre (model) with Ssangyong which will debut this fiscal. In the next 3-5 years, all the models we launch would have petrol engine option,” replied to the question regarding the plans to introduce a petrol version TUV300.

Abdul Majeed, Partner, Price Waterhouse Coopers, said, “The compact SUV segment will grow in the future. This new product will be critical in for M&M and given the track record of the company, if they can price and position the product right, this new vehicles will do great in the market.”

Mahindra & Mahindra is looking forward gain big in this festive season both in Western and Eastern markets. The TUV300 will hit the roads on Ganesha Chaturthi that is September 17 followed by Dushera and Diwali, sales during this period is believed to much higher than the other phase of in the financial year.
