Car of the Week - Brio Automatic


Bangalore: Honda Cars India launched the automatic transmission version of its flagship hatchback Brio in two variants – the S (O) AT and V AT (mid and top-end) priced between 5.74 lakh and 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It also introduced a new variant of the manual transmission version, priced at 4.26 lakh.

“Automatic transmissions are gaining popularity in hatchback segment due to our stop-go traffic. Our dealer and customer voice indicated that there is a good potential for automatic in the Brio segment,” Honda Cars India Senior Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen told to PTI.

Brio was the first car in its segment to be equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The new Brio automatic transmission version of the manual transmission has various features, including new audio system and body coloured outside door handles.

Engine

Brio Automatic has a 1.2 Litre petrol drive train equipped with I-Vtec (intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) Engine. It is also said to dislodge the peak power of 87 PS and peak torque of 109 NM. With this kind of incredible engine Brio Automatic will be the most powerful hatchback in India now.

Performance

The performance packed power engine has the capacity to move 1198cc and is fitted with 4 cylinders outfitted with 16 valves. It has the ability to generate a peak power output of 86.24 Bhp at 6000 Rpm with a maximum torque yield of 109 Nm at 4500 Rpm. This Brio has been equipped with a fuel injection system (PGM-Fi), which enhances the fuel efficiency of this car.

Brio Automatic has an added benefit over its competing hatch cars as it is skillfully mated with a smooth and efficient five speed automatic transmission gear box.
