Car Of The Week: Nissan Micra Facelift


Bangalore: Almost three years after introducing its hatchback in India, the Japanese manufacturer, Nissan finally came up with a major upgrade to Micra, its popular subcompact car.

The upgraded hatchback will come in two variants, Micra Active and Micra Sporty in both petrol and diesel categories.

The Micra Active petrol carries same design statement of its predecessor, a spacious hatchback offering quality and functionality at a competitive price, is based on the popular fourth generation city car with major redesigned exteriors, refreshed premium interiors.

The face-lifted version comes with bells and whistles. The fresh look is evident from new angular headlamps and a wider front grille with chrome inserts. The car also gets new bumpers and a bit cosmetic touché all over. The higher end version comes with new set of alloy wheels and also an LED treatment in tail lights.

The interior of the Micra have been spruced up. The brighter fabrics and good quality plastics replace old ones. The piano black panel on the centre console houses the restyled rectangular shaped air vents and a 2-din stereo.

However, there is no upgrade in under the hood as the new Micra uses the same 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 75PS of power and 104Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel motor churns out 65PS of power and 160Nm of torque. There is also an automatic version that gets Xtronic CVT transmission, while the rest of variants get standard five-speed unit.

The petrol engine will provide a mileage of 19.9 kmpl and starts at a base price of 4.79 lakh. The diesel variant is priced at Rs 599,000.
