Car Of The Week: Audi S6

Bangalore: The sporty sibling of German manufacturer Audi’s A6 has finally debuted in India, the 2013 Audi S6. A rare combination of sportiness and practicality, the S6 is the one of the best luxurious four door saloons available today. Putting things in a box, the Audi S6 is ‘the’ sports saloon. But the Indian automobile market will heat up in a couple of months because rivals, BMW and Mercedes, are ready to launch their masterpieces, the M5 and E63 AMG respectively, to warm up the saloon class and also to give the S6 a tough race.

But as of now, it’s all about the S6 and let’s take a look at what this sporty beast has to offer.

Exterior:

The S6 shares sheer similarities with the S7, but since the S6 lacks a hatch, it’s more compact and better in term of dimensions. The S6 is lighter by 4 kgs and narrower, when compared to the S7. The chassis, the engine and the transmission are identical. When compared to the A6, the S6 has the same body shells and profiles. At 4931 mm, the S6 is 16 mm longer than the A6. And the sedan is also uniquely designed with a platinum colored grille, horizontal elements in the front air intakes, aluminum mirror caps, a rear lip spoiler, and four exhaust outlets. The front intakes are surrounded by an additional red colored strip, followed by the outer curve and then the signature adaptive LED headlamps.
