BANGALORE: In India, a meal is referred to as ‘thali’. In Hindi, the literal meaning of ‘thali’ is a plate on which food is served. The idea is each ‘thali’ or ‘meal’ should cater six kinds of flavor – spicy, sweet, salt, astringent, sour, and bitter. These are basic savors that complete an Indian meal.



As we know, India has unity in diversity. So, when it comes to Indian thali, the nation offers several kinds of it. Each originates from a particular state or region.
