He also is a licensed pilot and when in 2012 Ellison purchased the island of Lanai, Hawaii's sixth-largest island, from David Murdock of Dole Foods; it wasn’t much of a surprise. The insland is an 88,000-acre paradise equipped with two Four Seasons resorts, two golf courses and a stable.
