BANGALORE: The small car segment is indeed the hottest and the most preferred segment by the Indian car buyers. This is one segment which is constantly targeted by the Indian and the international car manufacturers for the sales it generates. In fact some of these cars attract first time buyers and families that need a second or a third vehicle for short drives within the city. The the only reason that might make the consumers think is the escalating petrol prices and rise in interest rates on car loans.

Datsun Redi-Go: The Datsun Redi-Go concept version was one of the pick of the cars displayed at the Auto Expo. The company has revealed that Redi-Go will hit the Indian markets by late 2015. That’s like less than a year’s time. Daton who is looking to dominate the small car segment is aggressively planning to price the Redi-Go under 4 lakhs with a mini-crossover like styling. However, Datsun haven’t disclosed the car’s specifications, but we might expect a sub-1-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Seeing current industry trend, we might even get the automatic transmission and safety features like ABS and Airbags as optional fitments. The design theme of the Redi-Go certainly looks very attractive and no car makers off late have tried anything like this before. The Redi-Go is devised at taking on the likes of Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki alto and other cars in this segment.
