2015: A Cheerful Year For The SUV Buyers In India

# Maruti S-Cross

Maruti’s best models like the Kizashi and Grand Vitara have never returned the best sales in India. But now the company has raised itself segment by segment and after the Ciaz, the next car which will be here is the S-Cross. Made known at the 2014’s Auto Expo, the car is a large, high-riding crossover hatchback than a proper SUV.

On the other side, the car is well equipped with very spacious interiors and is pretty well-equipped. The power to the wheels is given by a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines mated to the manual gearbox. However, its all-wheel-drive system that actually gives good off-roading ability is its plus point. The Maruti S- cross goes up against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.

# The All new Honda CR-V Diesel and Petrol

SUVs in India are well received with a diesel engine. So no wonder Honda is keenly working on a diesel version on the CR-V. The engine is a 1.6-litre i-DTEC which churns out 118bhp with its massive 31kgm of torque.

The diesel CR-V will be available only with a front-wheel-drive which may be a slight disappointment if the plan is to venture off road but by  delivering good fuel efficiency it makes up for the lack of the front wheel drive. The new CR-V comes with a little face lift too with tweaks done to the bumpers, grille and lights with a bit more equipment in the cabin.
