The legendary Indian Actress Shabana Azmi has been running an NGO, Mijwan Welfare Society, which was founded by her father in 1993 in order to empower a village in Uttar Pradesh. Her father believed that India's remarkable economic progress can only be meaningful if it reaches out to rural India. Thus with the help of the NGO the village now has a high school for girls, inter college for girls, computer training center and sewing and tailoring center.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
The charismatic actress and the bahu of Nawab family, Kareena Kapoor Khan is one among the top most actresses in the B-town. She has also supported various social causes which includes Children’s education and women safety in the country. In 2010 she adopted the village of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh as part of NDTV's Greenathon Campaign in order to provide the village with a regular supply of electricity. She was the ambassador of Shakti Campaign, which was a protest against sexual and domestic violence.
