Sports media - why it is popular
No one forgets 1972 or about that time tour of England cricket team to India when England won series as popular players as Tony Gregg and others played a dominant part. Madanlal brought India to victory in Calcutta test as India lost in Delhi and Bangalore tests. Salim Durani played leading innings in Madras test as India had won Calcutta and Madras while England won Bangalore and New Delhi tests. Sunil Manohar Gavaskar played historic innings in Mumbai or Bombay although India lost the test to England. To some, it was like life or death or good fighting against evil but it was all entertaining interesting quite absorbing tests India and England played. It was also like good fighting against evil or life or death when legendary Eknath Solkar who hit two sixes in Lord's test in England before India losing with Innings defeat. That’s not all and the point is that Sports is all-absorbing entertaining and interesting as cricket fans of India and Pakistan always forgot all fight and absorbed in cricket matches as krishnamachari Srikanth and Sunil Gavaskar Kapil Dev Mohammed Azharuddin played in yesteryears. Sports is all dominating occupying and entertaining to people of India Pakistan England Australia and other nations. Sports media and sports journalism have become a dominant form of journalism now than before and it has got into academia classrooms of journalism school. We have seen how Rahul Dravid kept occupying over many years of cricket fans as he is called wall, Mohammed Azharuddin's successful innings of many years and also recent master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and that of Gavaskar of earlier years also of Kapil Dev. Gordon Greenidge Vivian Richards and Clive Lloyd were like some gods when they played cricket dominating several years, several tests and several countries. Sports is part of life, a dominating one of Madras or Tamil Nadu people in many ways and also that of India, England, and the USA. Although the USA doesn’t have cricket it’s football a different one as it is called Super Bowl has been a dominating one in America’s sports history as also the tennis matches between John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl has been like a fight between good and evil or life or death to some before who had watched it with excitement and interest. To some when Kevin Curran defeated McEnroe, some even worshipped gods to seem defeated as Boris Becker played historically to defeat Kevin Curran in 1985. Sports has been that challenging absorbing and interesting as sports media play leading role take away dreary of daily life divert attention from daily problems and take a person smoothly on a daily level. Traditional Brahmins and other households in Madras and others listened to cricket commentaries fought among themselves even sided with opposing teams that of India because of excitement it used to bring and it is a common thing in India Pakistan or England before.
Sports journalism involves reporting on a particular sport who excels who wins etc as in the case of cricket we report the bowling side batting side who plays where the ball goes etc. It is an interesting field and former sportsperson of that field becomes sports media persons as Ravi Shastri K. Srikanth etc who become sports media persons as Sunil Gavaskar used to dominate sports or cricket media for a long time.
Sports media or journalism is about a particular sport covering it in print broadcast or electronic media and conveys messages effectively to all those concerned. Sports media are billion rupees or dollar business as it involves many players, media organizations and sponsors effectively and it is a very successful one. In America also, it is a very successful one as in India involving sports person organizations or business owners and media people.
To succeed in sports journalism one need to know that particular sports well good reporting skills and others and intention or drive to succeed. It pays very well for sports persons or media persons a lot of sponsors are involved and a lot of money is there for sportspersons, media organizations, and media people.
It is an interesting field to get into it one needs interest aptitude experience and all that and sports journalism has been changing offering better opportunities and even gold to those who want to succeed and have a drive for it.
