Sevilla has announced that forward Luis Muriel will go to Serie A side Fiorentina on loan for the rest of the 2018-2019 season.

For the Colombian international, who joined Sevilla in the 2017-2018 season and has 13 goals in 65 matches with the LaLiga side, the deal mark a return to the Italian league, where he previously played at UC Sampdoria.

"Sevilla FC and ACF Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the loan of Luis Muriel until the end of the season. The Italian side will reserve an option to buy once the loan has finished," the Spanish club said in a statement on its website on Tuesday night.

While Sevilla did not specify the value of the deal, some media outlets estimated that Fiorentina will pay as much as 13 million euros ($15 million) if they decide to make the transfer permanent, reports Efe news.

Muriel, 27, became the most expensive signing in the history of Sevilla when he arrived here in 2017 for 21.6 million euros from Sampdoria.

AC Milan was also interested in acquiring Muriel on loan, but the player opted for Fiorentina.
