Moscow to host 2019 European Beach Volleyball meet


beach volley ballThe Russian capital of Moscow has been selected to host the 2019 Beach Volleyball European Championship, the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) announced on Monday.

CEV said in its statement that the tournament "will be taking place in Moscow from August 5 to 11," adding that "the continental showpiece will return to the capital city of Russia for the first time since the 2005 edition".

The CEV press service said that the venue for next year's European beach volleyball competition in men and women categories will be located near the Luzhniki Stadium on the shores of the Moskva River, reports Tass news agency.

"It is a great opportunity for Russian sports to organize this event. Beach Volleyball is developing very fast in Russia and raising the interest of spectators and fans alike," Stanislav Shevchenko, the president of the Russian Volleyball Federation (RVF), was quoted as saying in the statement.

"We, as organizers, have great experience in holding international tournaments in Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. I am confident that the tournament will be held at a very high level with tremendous support from the audience."
