The country unites when there is a match; supporting India is the greatest sight of patriotism for some. In such a scenario when there is a match there’s an equal win loss chance associated. The country celebrates the wins but the losses are not taken in equal taste. In such a country where a player who has time and again proved his mettle in such time crunch situation, never getting succumbed to the pressure, he is none other than our very own captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

MS Dhoni has always been the greatest fear of the opposition, many a times snatching victory at the last ball of the. He is widely known as the greatest finisher in the limited-overs cricket. His calm and composed on-field attitude has captured the hearts of millions and how can one forget the helicopter shot which can even hit a Yorker for a six. After release of the biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story describing his life story as a player, the fans are keen on knowing the man who taught him the helicopter shot.

According to The Entertainment Times, the man behind Dhoni’s classic helicopter shot is none other than his childhood friend Santhosh Lal. Santhosh used to be Dhoni’s cricket buddy and together they used to play a number of cricket matches using tennis ball. They even travel together always for their cricket matches and tournaments. MS Dhoni was also very fond of Santhosh’s batting skills which made him learn and develop his own skills as a cricketer.

Like the saying goes “Don’t forget your past”, despite being a superstar and the people’s hero in the Indian cricket team, Dhoni maintained a very good friendship with Santhosh and has always been in touch with him. Later, Santhosh continued playing Ranji cricket for the Jharkhand team. However, when Santhosh suffered pancreatitis, Dhoni even arranged for his proper treatment in Delhi including his flights from Ranchi; but, unfortunately Santhosh couldn’t make it. However, Dhoni has never shied away in admitting his friend support for his success.
