From Cricketer To Coach: Different Hats of Ravi Shastri

BANGALORE: Cricket is a place which has given birth to many great players all over the world. One such player is Ravi Shastri, with his above-average height of 6’ 3” and an upright stance.

Journalist and commentator Harsha Bhogle's description of this innings holds true for many of Shastri's major efforts: Watching Shastri bat is like admiring the Qutub Minar; tall, timeless, solid. You admire it for the virtues, not for its style.  Not just on the ground, he had been a firm figure in commentary and in the coaching department too. And if it raises your curiosity to know more about his life history, here is the list to rely upon.

#The Beginning of Shastri

Ravi Shastri was born and brought up in Bombay. In his last year at the junior college, he was selected to represent Bombay in the Ranji trophy. At 17 years and 292 days, he was then the youngest cricketer to play for Bombay.

Within eighteen months of his Test debut against New Zealand in 1981, Shastri had moved up from tenth position in the batting order to being an opening batsman.
