YouTube Appoints Gunjan Soni as Country Managing Director for India
YouTube has named Gunjan Soni as Country Managing Director for India. With more than two decades of leadership across business, technology, marketing, and e-commerce, Soni will spearhead YouTube's growth and innovation in India.
Gautam Anand, VP, YouTube APAC, said, "YouTube's journey in India remains dynamic and vibrant, a nation abounding with immense creative energy and potential. I am thrilled to welcome Gunjan, an experienced leader to lead our next growth phase. Gunjan's strong knowledge of the creator economy and India's video commerce ecosystem, along with her leadership, will help us speed up creator growth, unlock new possibilities, engage users, and contribute meaningfully to India's digital journey".
Soni comes to YouTube from ZALORA, where she was Group CEO for six years in Singapore. Under her leadership, she led the introduction of new categories and business models, drove innovation, and improved user experience through personalization and a successful loyalty program. Soni also has extensive Indian media and marketing experience, having held roles as EVP at Star India and CMO at Myntra.
Before that, she was a Partner at McKinsey in the Consumer and Marketing practice. She is a member of the board of CBRE Group, which is a Fortune 500 firm.
