Wrestler Icon Dara Singh Bids Final Goodbye



Bangalore: Indian cinema's original action hero Dara Singh died of cardio-respiratory arrest on the morning of July 12. After battling for dear life for five days at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, he passed away at age 83.

Knowing the end was near; Dara Singh preferred to pass away at home, close to his family. His mortal remains were cremated at The Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu. His doctor, R. K. Agarwal informed that the veteran actor and wrestler had a rare form of brain disease and suffered from paralysis a few years back, as told to ‘The Tribune’.

Bollywood celebrities like Rishi Kapoor, Tabu, Sajid Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Khan and his wife Zarine Khan, Fardeen Khan, Jaspal Bhatti, Deepti Bhatnagar, paid homage to the legendary wrestler and veteran actor at his cremation ceremony in Mumbai.

Abhishek Bachchan, who worked with Dara Singh in one of his early films Shararat said he looked up to the wrestler. “Dara ji passes away. Had the honour of working with him in Shararat. The most gentle and kind man. Really looked up to him. Will miss him. He was always so loving and gave the best hugs. Remember meeting him for the 1st time while dad was shooting Mard. Was convinced... That he truly was the only human who could not be pulled apart by even airplanes,” Abhishek Tweeted.
