Direction Generale De La Securite Exterieure, or General Director for External Security is the specialized agency that gathers external intelligence. It operates under Ministry of Defence. It also works along Central Directorate of Interior Intelligence, focusing on National security. It was formed in 1982 to assist the strategic decisions of military. Though it’s not as famous as other top agencies, reports said, that this agency prevented many attacks in France post 9/11. It functions well with a network of 5000 agents across the world; and the interesting fact, it got numerous volunteers! They are invisible on paper but are vital.

The Australian Secret Intelligence Service is the powerful watchdog for Australia and watches closely on the developments across the world, and especially in the Asia-Pacific region. It was established in 1952 in an Executive Council Meeting by Prime Minister Robert Menzies. Alfred Deakin Brookes was made the head of this agency then. This was kept so secret that even their government was unaware for as long as 20 years. The agency is responsible for collecting foreign intelligence data, undertaking counter-intelligence activities and cooperating well with other intelligence agencies all over. It also distributes and transfers secret intelligence.
