Wipro Names Vinay Firake CEO of APMEA Unit
IT major Wipro appointed Vinay Firake as the CEO of its APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, and Africa) strategic market unit (SMU), effective immediately. Firake, who has been with Wipro for 26 years, takes over from Anis Chenchah, who is leaving the company for opportunities elsewhere. He will report directly to CEO and Managing Director Srini Pallia and will join the Wipro Executive Board.
Pallia praised Firake's extensive global experience and leadership within Wipro, stating, "Firake has successfully led Wipro in diverse regions globally and is the perfect candidate for this role". Most recently, Firake served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Wipro-Nordics Business Unit based in Stockholm, overseeing operations across various industries and services.
Firake expressed his excitement about the new role, emphasizing the significance of the APMEA SMU in the evolving technology landscape. Wipro, a technology services and consulting company, employs over 230,000 people and operates in 65 countries. For the January-March quarter (Q4 FY24), Wipro recorded a net profit of Rs 2,835 crore, down from Rs 3,074.5 crore in the same period last fiscal year.
