Which is Better "Make In India" or "Made In India"?
BANGALORE: A lot has been said about in the “Make In India” program initiated by PM Modi, which aims at transforming nation’s fate towards new horizons.
But does Modi’s mission to revive India is growing consistently?
The announcement of the “Make In India” programme might have brought a smile upon every local manufacturer in India but at the same time, there are some dark spots that are hindering in the process of development of this programme.
Apropos the “Make In India” project, the defence ministry has already started making its moves. The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar proclaimed,” Bharatiya Janata Party-led government had already cleared
75, 000 crore worth of acquisitions, of which
65, 000 crore is in the "Buy and Make (Indian)" category of the Defence Procurement Policy,” reports Rediff.com
“These systems -- which include submarines (
50, 000 crore, or $8 billion), artillery guns (
15, 750 crore, or $2.5 billion) and anti-tank missiles (
3, 200 crore, or $500 million) -- would be indigenous products,” added Parrikar.
In defence, "Make in India" not at all provided Indian manufacturers the facility to achieve the advancement in acquiring the latest technologies; in fact, manufacturing licensing conditions usually stipulate that the buyer can make no alterations.
This is the reason why "Make in India" of the MiG-21 for decades, had to go back to Russia when it upgraded the fighter. It is insincerely disputed that India's influence as the world's biggest arms importer allows it to dictate terms to foreign retailers, forcing them to part with proprietary high-technology as a condition for winning a contract.
A lot of things in which the “Make In India” programme lacks, such as no one talks about the unskilled labour and inadequate training. On the other hand, “Made in India" involved envision, scheming and building a defence platform in India, creating intellectual property in the country.
