WAVES 2025, the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit, has received an overwhelming response to its 'Reel Making' challenge, with 3,379 registrations coming in from all over India and 20 countries. The competition, a flagship initiative under WAVES 2025, resonates with the 'Create in India' vision of the Government of India by engaging the global community in media, entertainment, and content creation.
Contestants from all countries, including Afghanistan, the United States, UAE, Australia, and Germany, have enrolled, thus proving the international appeal of the challenge. Domestically, entries have come from remote Indian locations like Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, Kargil in Ladakh, Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir, and Port Blair in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Targeting creators above the age of 20, the challenge invites participants to craft reels on two themes: 'Viksit Bharat', showcasing India's technological and infrastructural progress, and "India @2047," envisioning the nation's future growth. Each submission, ranging from 30 to 60 seconds, provides a creative platform for storytellers to highlight India's achievements.
Prize winners will gain access to selective opportunities such as an invitation from Meta to be part of Meta-hosted activity, a Reels Master class, and to WAVES 2025 wholly paid for attendance where they stand to be felicitated based on their outputs. The participating reels will receive exposure on the official website in the WAVES Hall of Fame and other sites on social networks.
Open till March 15, 2025, WAVES 2025 is a vision by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that is expected to make India a global leader in the media and entertainment sectors.
