Want To Maximize Your Lunch Break? These Tips Will Help You

Whether you're working at home or at the office, you need to make the most of your lunch break. After all, having a meaningful lunch break is good for your wellbeing, focus, energy and mood throughout the whole day. Who doesn’t want that? We know we do. When your break starts, you’ll probably eat for approximately 20 minutes. But what are you going to do with the other part of your break? We suggest spending it well. That’s why we’ve come up with 5 things to do during your lunch break.

1.Plan your meals

If you have a nine to five job, you’re probably going to be fed up with the limited time you have for running errands or doing your grocery shopping. Let alone thinking about what you’re going to eat. That’s why we suggest planning most of your meals in advance, and what’s a better time to do it than during the leftover time of your lunch break? However, we do suggest that you write it down in a notebook rather than your laptop, because a break is a break.

2.Work out

This may seem a little bit enthusiastic, but working out during your lunch break has many benefits. Did you know that your physical performance is generally the highest during this time? We didn’t either, that’s why you should work out during this time. Life is already hectic enough, you don’t want to make time for staying fit. Going in the morning means you’ll lose sleep and in the evening after work you’re probably tired. That’s why working out during the day is a great idea.

3.Step away from your desk

Move away from your current environment. Whatever you do, don’t spend your lunch break at your desk. Because this desk is your work space and you associate it with work. You won’t get rest if you’re still near it. So get yourself a change of scenery!

4.Dive into another world

Watch a TV-series on Netflix. There are plenty of TV-series that have episodes of 30 minutes or less. There are even lists on the internet which include tv-series that are perfect for your lunch break. Take your mind off work and dive into another world. However, do not use your work phone or laptop. There is a big chance an email will find your way and will get your mind back to work. This is your lunch break, so no time for reading an email. If you don’t have a personal phone or laptop, rent one! You can easily rent a MacBook or rent an iPhone online.

5.Take a deep breath and relax

Whether you're at home or at the office, meditating is always a good idea. Because if you’re feeling stressed or anxious throughout the day, meditating can boost your mental health. There are countless apps to find in the App Store which can help you start meditating and switch off your brain for a few moments. Take into consideration that mindfulness is so much more than just sitting in a room and saying “ohmmm”. It’s also about just being aware that you’re not staring at the computer screen during your lunch break.

With these steps, you have the toolbox to make the most of your lunch breaks. Which tool are you going to use?
