Viacom18 Appoints Ishan Chatterjee as JioCinema Chief Revenue Officer
Ishan Chatterjee is leaving his role as Managing Director of YouTube India to join Viacom18-owned JioCinema as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Chatterjee’s departure marks the end of his 13-year tenure at Google, including six years at YouTube, where he held various positions across Europe and Asia.
Chatterjee has been leading YouTube India since November 2022, having previously served as MD of Product Partnerships for APAC at the platform. His move to JioCinema follows a recent high-profile hire by the streaming service, with Amazon Prime Video's Sushant Sreeram joining as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Both YouTube and Viacom18 declined to comment on Chatterjee’s appointment. Chatterjee and Sreeram will report to Kiran Mani, CEO of Digital Ventures at Viacom18. Mani previously worked at Google as General Manager and MD for Android and Google Play in Asia Pacific.
JioCinema has significantly impacted the Indian streaming market since its acquisition by Viacom18 from Reliance Industries in 2022. The platform has rapidly grown by integrating Viacom18’s previous streaming services, Voot, Voot Select, and Voot Kids. JioCinema offers free access to popular cricket and entertainment content, including the Indian Premier League and Bigg Boss, and features premium Hollywood content from providers like HBO, NBC Universal, and Paramount.
Viacom18, backed by Reliance Industries and Bodhi Tree, is also in the process of merging with Walt Disney's Star India to create an $8.5 billion media conglomerate, pending approvals from the Competition Commission of India and the National Company Law Tribunal.
