Valeo Enhances Electrification Capabilities with New Facility in Pune, India
Valeo, a global leader in mobility technology, has significantly expanded its presence in India with the inauguration of a new production facility in Pune dedicated to power electronics products. The new facility, covering over 7,000 square meters, is set to boost Valeo’s capabilities in the electrification sector, focusing on fostering collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Yann Keraudren, Valeo Power Asia Regional Operations Vice President, alongside Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, and Nitin Chaudhary, Site General Manager of the Valeo Pune Plant.
Jayakumar G highlighted the importance of the new facility in advancing Valeo’s strategic goal of deeper localization and enhancing competitiveness in electrification products. He noted that the Pune plant is expected to address the growing demand for the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combination unit. This unit integrates an On-Board Charger, DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit, providing a comprehensive solution for electric vehicles (EVs) in the expanding Indian market. Jayakumar emphasized that Valeo is well-positioned to offer technology solutions that are both adaptable to the local market and cost-effective.
The new plant reflects Valeo’s commitment to diversity and sustainability. The company employs over 40 individuals with disabilities and has implemented several sustainability initiatives. A 900 kW rooftop solar panel has already been installed, with plans to add an additional 700 kW capacity at the new facility. To further reduce emissions, Valeo has replaced its employee transportation buses with new BS VI-compliant vehicles, introduced two electric vehicles for guest commutes, and implemented various energy efficiency measures to minimize its carbon footprint.
The Pune facility will primarily focus on manufacturing the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combo unit, which integrates an On-Board Charger, DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit. This integrated approach aims to streamline component usage and enhance efficiency in power distribution and management for EVs.
With this new facility, Valeo aims to strengthen its position in India’s burgeoning EV market while upholding its commitment to sustainability and inclusive employment practices.
