US Envoy Praises Indias Generous Humanitarian Support for Afghanistan

The United States envoy praised India’s support for Afghanistan during its struggle with multiple civic and economic concerns under the Taliban's rule. Months after withdrawing, New Delhi has re-established its presence in Kabul.
During his India visit, the US special representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West, discussed issues related to the conflict-ridden country, evoking global concerns. He met Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Joint Secretary (PAI) JP Singh. Thomas mentioned in his tweets that it was great to meet them and other Indian colleagues in Delhi to discuss shared interests in Afghanistan. As fellow friends of the Afghan people, the US extremely appreciates India’s generous humanitarian assistance and commitment to Afghans’ fundamental rights. Although this is West's third trip to India, it is his first since India reestablished its diplomatic presence.
Furthermore, the US envoy highlighted the meeting with Dr Abdullah, the chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee, in Afghanistan. He added that it was valuable to meet with Dr Abdullah about the immediate need for national political dialogue among Afghans. There is consensus in the international community on this imperative, which Afghans should lead and shape.
His visit to India is part of a three-nation visit, including Japan and the United States of Arab. The news agency ANI reported that the West would be engaging with the Afghan diaspora, including human rights, business, political, and media leaders, on how to tackle these challenges.
This visit is a result of the UN mission in Afghanistan urging the Taliban to initiate immediate steps to end violence against women and the broader deterioration of women’s rights as a part of efforts to establish a meaningful and sustainable peace. The. On the other hand, security concerns linked to Afghanistan remain at the top of the agenda as National Security Adviser Ajit Doval meets his counterparts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
