US and India Launch First Cybersecurity Drive to Strengthen IT Partnership
The inaugural US-India Cyber Security Initiative, a collaborative effort between the US Consulate and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA), was launched with the goal of enhancing IT connections between the two nations. US Consul General Mike Hankey, who was present at the MCCIA Pune Business International Business Summit, highlighted that the initiative seeks to bring together leading global cyber security experts to drive job creation and advance innovative solutions. This initiative is poised to establish a mentorship framework in the realm of cybersecurity for the city while also nurturing interpersonal connections within the cyber domain.
Hankey underscored the timeliness of the launch, noting the unprecedented pace of advancement in digital technologies. He emphasized the importance of a secure and resilient cyberspace, essential for the growth of both public and private sectors. Such a secure environment enables global access to information, fostering development and innovation. "Cyber issues are a priority in the U.S.-India bilateral relationship. The challenge facing the United States and India is how to minimize cybersecurity threats and ensure the digital revolution promotes global prosperity and stability", he said. 
"We are witnessing extraordinary transformations in artificial intelligence, advanced telecommunications, critical and emerging technologies, bioengineering, and energy", CG Hankey said while addressing the media after the event. According to Hankey, the Cybersecurity Initiative signifies a strong partnership between the United States and India. He highlighted that these advancements extend beyond borders, providing economic and social advantages worldwide. Hankey emphasized the continued importance of cybersecurity in an expanding digital landscape.
He mentioned that the center will collaborate with research institutions, industry partners, and civil society to bolster cyber defenses, infrastructure and safeguard sensitive information. "We are proud to partner with MCCIA in launching this US-India Cyber Security Initiative with the aim of building secure and prosperous IT connections between our countries. This reflects our shared vision for a world that is open, secure, and prosperous," he concluded. 
Prashant Girbane, the Director General of MCCIA, highlighted the strategic significance of the Initiative for citizens, businesses, and governments. During his speech at the summit, Hankey noted the remarkable global transformations occurring in artificial intelligence, advanced telecommunications, critical and emerging technologies, bioengineering, and energy.
