Uber's New Bike Service Offers Ride for 3 per KM

BENGALURU: Bike Service is now at your doorstep. Online cab aggregator Uber has launched UberMOTO, a bike taxi service in Bangalore to reach more closely to the public service desk, reports Surabhi Agarwal, ET Bureau, for The Economic Times.

Keeping in mind the traffic congestion issues in Bangalore, the service will be first launched on a pilot basis, and will be later expanded to the other parts of the country.

UberMOTO is aimed at combating the traffic issues while tapping on the additional revenue streams in one of the world’s biggest markets for two wheelers. The service will mean a huge jump in the number of riding options for pillion riders commuting on the same route.

Operating from 7am to 9pm, UberMOTO will work through the Uber app and will cost a minimum of 15 per ride, followed by 3 per km. The passengers can either go with the option to pay with cash or credit and will be acknowledged with an electronic receipt. Currently, the average travel speed in the city is 9.5 km per hour. Now this service heads to barely reach 10 km per hour.
