FREMONT, CA: Ahead of the 2022 elections, the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Victory Fund along with Indian-American Impact Fund endorsed congressional candidates Nida Allam of North Carolina and Kesha Ram Hinsdale of Vermont in a joint press release.

In the press release, AAPI Victory Fund’s founder and chairman, Shekar Narasimhan, said that as elected leaders and champions for progressive movements in their states, Kesha and Nida had made strides for the AAPI community as well as for the communities in their constituents. The duos continue to dedicate their lives to ensuring that progress is fostered everywhere. He highlighted that AAPI is honored to endorse the two exemplary leaders who will make history when elected to Congress and strive to improve the lives of Americans. The executive director of Indian American Impact Fund, Neil Makhija, said that Nida’s and Kesha’s endorsement for public office is a reminder that Indian-Americans are underrepresented in the American Government. He went on to say that the progress made by the duo represents the beginning of Indian-American and the AAPI community to have a footprint in the political arena.

Nida Allam is currently the Durham County Commissioner and a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District. Acknowledging the endorsement, Nida said that she is proud of the support from the community and will fight for progressive policies that support families across NC. Vermont state senator Kesha Hinsdale said that if elected as Vermont’s first Congresswoman, she will work with AAPI Victory, Indian American Impact, and Representative Pramila Jayapal to build a larger coalition for racial, social, and economic justice. Kesha reiterated that these organizations had challenged politics, amplified the voices of the underrepresented, and fought for issues that have challenged Vermonters.
