Former US President Donald Trump has announced on his microblogging platform, Truth Social, that Sergio Gor will be the next US Ambassador to India. Trump described Gor as a 'great friend' and longtime ally, expressing strong confidence in his ability to advance the administration’s agenda in the region. In addition to his ambassadorial role, Gor will serve as Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Currently, Sergio Gor is the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office. In this role, he has overseen the rapid hiring of nearly 4,000 'America First Patriots' across federal departments, helping staff agencies to over 95 per cent capacity in record time. Trump highlighted Gor’s significant contributions in a statement, praising his leadership and commitment to the 'America First' agenda.
Gor has also been actively involved in Trump’s presidential campaigns, managed one of the largest super political action committees supporting the former president, and authored best-selling books. Trump emphasized that these experiences make Gor well-suited to represent the United States in India, the world’s most populous country.
In his Truth Social post, Trump congratulated Gor and stated, “Sergio’s role as Director of Presidential Personnel has been essential to delivering on the unprecedented Mandate that we received from the American People. For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my agenda and help us, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador. Congratulations Sergio!”
Sergio Gor will continue in his current position at the White House until his formal confirmation as ambassador is completed. The appointment underscores the administration’s focus on strengthening US ties with India and the broader South and Central Asian region.
