Tripura to get Rs 2800 Crore to Boost Economy
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways decided to sanction projects worth over Rs 2,800 crore to give a boost to the economy and surface communication system of Tripura, said officials.
A development of this kind came after Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha attended a review meeting chaired by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in Vanijya Bhawan . According to him, the chief minister attended the meeting to discuss a number of projects that would be sanctioned by the MRTH for Tripura.
Gadkari later in his posts of the social media handle said: reviewed the progress of 16 ongoing National Highway projects spanning 324 km in Tripura with Union MoS Shri Ajay Tamta Ji, Shri H D Malhotra Ji, Tripura CM Shri Manik Saha Ji and other senior officials in Delhi today".
He mentioned: "The meeting focused on fast-tracking the highway infrastructure development of Tripura in a manner that is more sustainable and cost-effective. The efforts would improve connectivity, spur local economies, and finally connect the North-east to the national growth matrix".
"Tripura's highways are being revamped with futuristic infrastructure under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's vision to pave the way for growth, seamless mobility, and prosperity", said Gadkari.
The government official of Tripura said the projects included the eastern bypass in Agartala with a value of Rs 800 crore, four-lane road for 11 km, widening Amtali to the Tripura Sundari Temple road for 50 km into a four-lane road costing Rs 1,500 crore, and Rs 400 crore for converting the four-lane 10 km stretch of Ranibazar to the Inter-State Bus terminus in Chandrapur road. Additionally, it includes sanction of Rs 100 crore through the Central Road Fund.
The Chief Minister of the state also spoke on a new National Highway from Kamalpur to Ambassa, Gandacherra to Amarpur to Sabroom to boost international trade and tourism. It includes an agreement for building logistics park on the eastern bypass, near Agartala, over 100-acre of land besides handing over funds for restoring the affected National Highways due to floods.Of four proposals, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Ropeway from Maharani to Chabimura is likely to get sanctioned soon.
