Toyota Kirloskar vice chairman Vikram Kirloskar passed away
According to a statement from the company, Vikram Kirloskar, vice chairman of Toyota Kirloskar, has gone away. He was 64.
He fainted on Tuesday morning due to a heart attack and was taken to Manipal Hospitals on the airport road in Bengaluru.
We are extremely saddened to inform of the untimely demise of Mr. Vikram S. Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor on 29th November 2022. At this time of grief, we request everyone to pray that his soul rests in peace," Toyota said in a statement. "We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends," the company said.
People can pay their last respects to the departed soul at Hebbal Crematorium at 1. pm, the statement added
Kirloskar leaves behind wife Geetanjali and daughter Manasi.
He was a fourth generation member of the Kirloskar Group that started in 1888. The group manufactures pumps, engines and compressors, among others.
Kirloskar, a graduate from MIT, had been vice chairman at Toyota Kirloskar, headquartered in Bengaluru, since 1998.
He in fact was responsible for sewing up a joint venture partnership with the Toyota group and starting a major automobile manufacturing industry in the state.
He was President of Confederation of Indian Industry during 2019-20 and was currently the Chairman of CII Manufacturing Council, CII Trade Fair’s council and Chairman Hydrogen Task force. Kirloskar was also on the Board of Trustees of The Rhode Island School of Design.
