BANGALORE: The year 2014 proved out to be the deadliest year in the history of aviation industry. The year marked 21 fatal accidents and 986 fatalities.

However, these accidents haven’t affected the number of travelers through flights. According to a report, last year around 3.3 Bn people traveled on 27 Mn flights. AirlineRatings.com, an Australian consumer aviation website has recently released a list of the 10 safest airlines in the world. These airlines were chosen amongst 449 carriers globally.

The factors that determined the top 10 safest airlines are their status with international regulators, fatality record in last 10 years, International Air Transportation Association (IATA) safety audit results, and confirmation of nation’s origin with the8-point safety parameter of International Civil Aviation Organization.
