Intelligence Bureau#2 Intelligence Bureau:

It is reputed as the world’s oldest intelligence agency, probably because its origins date back to 1885 under the British Indian Army. IB however replaced the colonial Central Intelligence Bureau in 1947, is predecessor to R&AW.

 The IB is shrouded in secrecy; at times even the family members of the officers are unaware of their activities. Their key responsibilities include execution of counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism tasks.

The Director of IB has always been a senior IPS Officer, who is particularly tasked with intelligence collection from the border areas. IB however lacks parliamentary oversight and legal framework to govern its functions.

National Technological Research Organization#3 National Technical Research Organization:

NTRO is the technical intelligence agency under the NSA in the PMO set up a decade ago in 2004. NTRO acts as the primary advisor on security matters to the Prime Minister. Since its inception the organization has often been the subject of national controversy. Cryptanalysis, satellite and terrestrial monitoring, remote sensing and data gathering have been the major activities of the organization.
