Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Arun Agarwal, a Dallas-based Indian-American entrepreneur, as the chairman of the Texas Economic Development Corporation's (TEDC) board of directors. This public-private partnership, which collaborates with the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Tourism, is tasked with promoting Texas as the premier state for business in domestic and global markets.

The Governor's office released a statement indicating that Agarwal's appointment underscores Texas's commitment to diversity and the increasing prominence of Indian American leaders in significant economic positions. His extensive business, philanthropy and international relations background is expected to enhance Texas's status as a global economic powerhouse.

As the CEO of Nextt, Agarwal manages a varied portfolio that includes textiles, cotton trading, real estate and sports management. He also serves as the chairman of the National Cricket League (NCL), USA, an initiative that has rapidly gained recognition. In addition to these roles, Agarwal is the co-chair of the Indian American CEO Council and holds the position of President of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board. His involvement extends to several prestigious organizations, including the US-India Friendship Council, the University of Texas executive board, Texas Tech Innovation HUB and the MD Anderson Board of Visitors.

Agarwal's academic credentials include an MBA from IMT, Ghaziabad, a Master's in computer information systems from Southern New Hampshire University and an advanced certificate in International Business from Harvard University.
