Tata Sons, TVS Motors and Five others launch the Indian Quality Foundation
Seven Indian companies have collaborated to establish the Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM), a Section 8 not-for-profit organization, with the goal of boosting global competitiveness. Spearheaded by Tata Sons, TVS Motor Company, Sun Pharma, Motherson Group, Bharat Forge, Boeing India, and Biocon, IFQM endeavors to cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation within Indian enterprises. This initiative aims to elevate the international recognition of products bearing the "Made in India" label.
IFQM aims to empower business leaders by providing them with expertise and resources in quality management, facilitating connections with global professionals, and fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among industry leaders. The foundation will offer assistance to organizations through dedicated quality counselors and bridge the gap between industry and academia.
The Board of Directors of IFQM comprises Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor Company and Chairman of IFQM, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Dilip Shanghvi, Managing Director of Sun Pharma, and Soumitra Bhattacharya, CEO of IFQM. "IFQM has the potential to be a game-changer for Indian Industry by creating a culture of best practice sharing and cross learning on quality and innovation," Venu Srinivasan said. "We can thus unlock our true potential and compete for head-on with the best in the world", he added.
In addition to Venu Srinivasan, N Chandrasekaran, and Dilip Shanghvi, the governing council of IFQM will feature Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Baba Kalyani, T.V. Narendran, Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Salil Gupte, and K.N. Radhakrishnan. This council will oversee the alignment of IFQM's programs with the unique requirements of Indian businesses. IFQM is committed to embedding a culture of quality within Indian enterprises.
The initiative led by industry aims to enhance the quality and dependability of products and services offered by Indian businesses, empowering them to compete more efficiently on the global stage and strengthen supply chain resilience. Its goal is to bolster the international reputation of the "Made in India" brand, thereby encouraging trade expansion and nurturing economic growth and prosperity for the citizens of India.
