Swiggy Appoints Suparna Mitra from Titan as Independent Director
Swiggy, a leading online food delivery platform, has welcomed Suparna Mitra as an independent director to its board. Mitra, currently serving as the CEO of Titan Company Limited’s Watches and Wearables Division, brings with her over three decades of extensive experience in the lifestyle and retail sectors.
Expressing her anticipation, Mitra stated, "I look forward to collaborating with the board members and management team of Swiggy; aimed at value-creation and values-based governance".
Mitra's appointment comes about two months after the resignation of Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director of TAFE. Srinivasan stepped down after a year of service due to increasing commitments to her other businesses.
Sriharsha Majety, Group CEO of Swiggy, expressed confidence in Mitra's capabilities, stating, "With her remarkable career and extensive experience in lifestyle and retail industries, along with her refreshing perspectives as a leader, we are confident that she will bring valuable insights and expertise to our board as our business enters its next era of growth".
Suparna Mitra holds an electrical engineering degree from Jadavpur University and an MBA from IIM Calcutta. Her professional journey includes pivotal roles such as Global Marketing Head at Titan.
Mitra now joins Swiggy’s esteemed list of independent directors, which includes Anand Kripalu, MD & Global CEO at EPL Limited and Chairperson of the Swiggy board; Shailesh Haribhakti, Chairman of Shailesh Haribhakti & Associates; and Sahil Barua, MD & CEO at Delhivery.
Swiggy's decision to onboard Mitra underscores its commitment to leveraging diverse expertise as it navigates through the dynamic landscape of the online food delivery industry, positioning itself for sustained growth and innovation.
