Subrata Mondal Appointed as Managing Director and CEO of Iffco Tokio General Insurance
Iffco Tokio General Insurance Company has announced the appointment of Subrata Mondal as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective. Mondal, who has been with the company since 2001 and most recently served as Chief Underwriter, succeeds H O Suri in leading the Noida-based insurer.
Mondal brings over 36 years of experience in the insurance industry, with extensive expertise in commercial insurance, risk management, underwriting, product development, and reinsurance. In his new role, Mondal expressed enthusiasm about steering the company forward. “I look forward to leading our dedicated team as we continue to provide customer-centric insurance solutions. Together, we will build on the strong foundation that has been established, while embracing new opportunities and challenges in the evolving insurance landscape”, Mondal stated.
During his tenure at Iffco Tokio, Mondal significantly impacted the company’s operations. As Chief Underwriter, he oversaw underwriting across various business lines, including property, engineering, marine, liability, credit, health, and miscellaneous insurance. He also led the company’s risk management, product development, and reinsurance functions.
Before joining Iffco Tokio, Mondal held prominent roles at National Insurance Company, focusing on underwriting, claims management, and risk engineering for large-scale projects. His career began at Steel Authority of India (SAIL) as a shift engineer at the Durgapur Steel Plant, where he was responsible for electrical maintenance in the blast furnace department.
Iffco Tokio General Insurance Company is a 51:49 joint venture between Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (Iffco) and Tokio Marine Group. Iffco is one of the world’s largest fertiliser manufacturers, while Tokio Marine Group is a leading global insurance provider based in Japan.
