Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Reshuffles Leadership
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) has announced a major leadership change in a bid to reassert its commitment to the Indian market and strengthen local operations. From 1st May 2025, Ashish Gupta will become Brand Director of Skoda India, replacing Petr Janeba, who will go back to the company's headquarters. Nitin Kohli will become the new Brand Director for Volkswagen Passenger Cars, replacing Gupta.
The company announced that this transition is in line with its approach to enabling Indian leadership for greater market connect and decision-making responsiveness. "These leadership transitions demonstrate our focus on enabling Indian leaders who are attuned to the needs of the market", commented Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director, SAVWIPL. "Ashish and Nitin's expertise will steer Skoda and Volkswagen into their future growth".
Gupta, with more than two decades of experience in the automobile sector 12 years of which with the Volkswagen Group was instrumental in Volkswagen India's brand transformation and successful rollout of the India 2.0 strategy. In his new assignment at Skoda India, Gupta will be tasked with increasing retail footprint, bolstering customer outreach, and achieving sustained growth.
Kohli has over 25 years of sales and business development experience, his latest stint being Head of Sales and Operations at Audi India. His comeback to SAVWIPL in this strategic position is poised to drive Volkswagen's growth pace in the competitive Indian market.
The automaker aims for a monthly Kylaq sale of 8,000 units towards end-2025, with an aim to exceed 100,000 unit annual vehicle sales beginning 2026.
