Seatrium and Cochin Shipyard Partner to Expand Offshore Services
  • Singapore’s Seatrium and India’s Cochin Shipyard sign MoU for offshore collaboration
  • Focus on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) projects in Asia
  • Partnership aims to support India’s energy transition and offshore growth

Seatrium Offshore Technology (SOT) from Singapore and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilder, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in Asia’s growing offshore sector.

The collaboration focuses on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) projects for clients operating across Asia. The two companies aim to combine their strengths, Seatrium’s engineering and offshore expertise with CSL’s strong infrastructure and fabrication capabilities to deliver high quality, cost effective solutions.

The MoU was signed virtually and sets the stage for joint marketing, project execution, and technology sharing between the two companies. They will also explore opportunities in other key offshore markets in the region.

Winston Cheng, Senior VP at Seatrium, said the partnership marks a strategic step in expanding their footprint in Asia, with India identified as a key long term market. He highlighted India’s growing offshore energy needs and the chance to support the country’s clean energy transition.

Sivakumar A, General Manager at CSL, said the collaboration would help CSL expand its offshore presence and leverage Seatrium’s global expertise to serve clients across Asia.

This new agreement builds on a previous partnership signed in November 2024, where the two companies agreed to jointly supply key equipment for jack up rigs used in India’s offshore operations.

India, one of the world’s largest energy consumers, is increasing its focus on offshore energy to meet rising industrial demand. The partnership positions both firms to play a significant role in supporting that growth.
