Science Research on the Downfall in India

Further, even the small minority that is motivated to pursue science research in prestigious science institutions have become havens of corruption, nepotism and bias.  When asked any scientist who left India as to what pushed him away, the answer is simply one word – politics. That could mean favoritism, suppression of talent and preference of the merited to the mediocre. How can the quest of science be possible in such conditions?

But, in spite of these disadvantages, there still are those dedicated men and women in the field who have kept the ship afloat. They are satisfied to research on how to eliminate water borne diseases, how to get better crops, or how to make life easier for the ordinary man.

There still is hope that these persons will convert science in India. They are the medical researchers who have painstakingly improved the health and lives of the people in India. They are the R&D personnel in defense laboratories who have innovated systems to keep enemy guns at bay.  They are the scientists who have spent a lifetime in quiet work which will never be honored on public platforms. And they are the ones who have kept science alive in this country.
