Saros Z70 and the Future of Home Cleaning with Intelligent Robotics

Roborock's Saros Z70, featuring the OmniGrip robotic arm, revolutionizes home cleaning with advanced navigation, object manipulation, and AI-powered features, offering a more interactive, efficient, and intelligent cleaning experience.

At CES 2025, Roborock (688169: SHA) introduced the Saros Z70, a robot vacuum that signifies a monumental advancement in home cleaning technology. The flagship device has the OmniGrip, the world’s first mass-produced foldable robotic arm featuring five-axis capabilities. This innovative arm is designed to transform how autonomous cleaning devices interact with and navigate household environments.

The OmniGrip is packed with advanced features, including sensors, an RGB camera, and integrated LED lighting. These elements work together to enable the Saros Z70 to identify, grip, and relocate small objects weighing up to 300 grams.

During its initial cleaning cycle, the vacuum carefully scans its surroundings, cataloging objects like socks, towels, and sandals. Once it identifies these obstacles, the OmniGrip arm deploys to move them, clearing previously inaccessible cleaning zones. This enhanced maneuverability ensures a deeper, more thorough cleaning process beyond traditional vacuuming, setting the Saros Z70 apart from typical robotic vacuums.

In addition to its cutting-edge robotic arm, the Saros Z70 incorporates the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0. This system utilizes a combination of 3D time-of-flight sensors, machine learning algorithms, and an RGB camera to navigate and recognize up to 108 pre-programmed objects efficiently.

The vacuum's advanced VertiBeam laser-based obstacle avoidance system further elevates its performance, providing precision when cleaning around cords, walls, and irregularly shaped furniture. These technologies combine to allow the Saros Z70 to operate seamlessly in a wide range of household environments, adjusting to obstacles and delivering more effective cleaning.

The vacuum’s technical specifications are equally impressive. With a robust 22,000Pa suction power, dual anti-tangle brush systems, and dual spinning mops that can raise 2.2 cm to avoid carpets, the Saros Z70 delivers comprehensive and versatile cleaning capabilities. Its ultra-slim 8 cm height enables it to easily slip under low furniture, while the AdaptLift chassis allows it to transition over high thresholds and tackle thick carpets. These design elements ensure that the Saros Z70 can clean both delicate and demanding areas of the home with ease.

Roborock envisions the Saros Z70 as more than just a vacuum cleaner—it is an intelligent home assistant. In addition to its cleaning duties, future over-the-air updates will introduce new features, such as object location tracking. This innovation will allow users to query the robot about the last known location of a misplaced item, turning the Saros Z70 into a helpful tool for locating everyday objects.

Although the device’s current object-moving capabilities may seem slow—demonstrations showed it taking about a minute to move a single sock—the potential for refinement is vast. As Roborock continues to develop this technology, future updates will likely improve the robot’s efficiency, making it an even more powerful and adaptable assistant.
