Samsung Semiconductor Expands Presence in India with New R&D Facility
Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has inaugurated its second research and development (R&D) facility in Bengaluru, underscoring the company's commitment to expanding its presence in India. The new facility, situated at Bagmane Capital Tech Park in the Angkor-West area, boasts 1,60,000 square feet of space across four floors. With a capacity to accommodate nearly 1,600 professionals, SSIR aims to foster innovation and collaboration within the country. 
Balajee Sowrirajan, Executive Vice President and Managing Director at SSIR, expressed the company's dedication to growing its footprint in India. Currently employing over 4,500 individuals, SSIR plans to further bolster its workforce by adding more than 700 professionals, including both fresh graduates and experienced hires across various teams.
In a strategic move, SSIR recently joined forces with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to establish a Quantum Technology Lab. This state-of-the-art facility will focus on integrating cryogenic control chips with qubits, single photon sources, and detectors. It aims to address reliability challenges in quantum technologies and will serve as a hub for technological innovation, manpower training, and collaboration with both national and international quantum research institutions.
The Quantum Technology Lab is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing quantum research and technology, showcasing SSIR's commitment to staying at the forefront of cutting-edge developments in the semiconductor industry.
