RBI Names Indranil Bhattacharyya as Executive Director
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Indranil Bhattacharyya as Executive Director (ED) with effect from March 19. In his new capacity, Bhattacharyya will be in charge of the Department of Economic and Policy Research, the central bank said in a statement.
Prior to this appointment, he served as an Adviser in the Monetary Policy Department of the RBI. With nearly three decades of experience, Bhattacharyya has worked extensively in the areas of monetary policy, fiscal policy, banking, and international economic relations. His contributions span multiple key departments, including the Monetary Policy Department, the Department of Economic and Policy Research, and the International Department.
Bhattacharyya also brings international experience, having served as an economic expert in the technical office of the Governor at Qatar Central Bank in Doha from 2009 to 2014. His expertise in policy research and international economics is expected to enhance RBI’s strategic initiatives.
The appointment reflects RBI’s continued focus on strengthening its leadership team to navigate evolving economic and policy challenges, ensuring effective decision-making in India's financial landscape.
